Gary Atkin began his property management career in the fall of 1975. Business experience and knowledge of construction contracting were the key factors considered when Condor Management Services hired Mr. Atkin to manage five condominiums in the Oshawa/Cobourg area. The owner of Unit Properties Ltd, John Giesler - a lawyer sometimes known as "the father of the Condominium Act" - offered Mr. Atkin portfolios in the Toronto and Mississauga area along with a welcome salary increase.

A move to Malvern Condominium Property Management provided the opportunity to manage townhouse and highrise properties. Mr. Atkin was promoted to senior property manager for condominiums in Brampton and Mississauga.

In 1982 Mr. Atkin was seeking experience in the commercial property management field and moved to Bert F. Grant Management. By 1985, Mr. Atkin was back with Malvern, as vice-president of the highrise division.

G.S. Atkin Property Management Specialists Inc. was established in 1987. Steady growth has increased the company's portfolio from two condominium corporations to over 30, most of which are in the Mississauga area. Mr. Atkin oversees the daily operations of the Company.

Mr. Atkin achieved the Registered Condominium Manager (RCM) designation from the Association of Condominium Managers of Ontario over 25 years ago. Mr. Atkin has achieved the professional accreditation (ACCI) from the Canadian Condominium Institute.
